(ĐN) - Over the past two days, coffee prices have continued to cool down with increasingly sharp declines.

Specifically, on April 5, coffee prices fluctuated around 131,100 VND/kg, decreased approximately 2,500 VND/kg compared to the previous day. On April 6, prices continued to fall 3,800–4,200 VND/kg, standing at 126,000–127,200 VND/kg.

The decrease is largely due to the impact of export market prices following a new tariff policy announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.

For the first time, the U.S. has imposed import tariffs on coffee, with a newly announced rate of 32% applied to coffee from Indonesia, the world's fourth-largest coffee producer. Brazil and Colombia are subject to a 10% tariff. The U.S. is currently the largest coffee importer.

It is forecasted that the tariff policy will have a significant impact on global trade, particularly the coffee sector. After the U.S. announced the new tariff policy, coffee prices on the London (UK) and New York (U.S.) exchanges dropped by 4.6–5.25% compared to two days prior. This is the steepest decline since the beginning of 2025.

In Vietnam, coffee is expected to be excluded from President Trump's reciprocal tariff list as it is considered an essential agricultural product. However, domestic coffee prices are still affected by global market trends.
