The Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway section that passes through Dong Nai will need around 5.7 million cubic meters of sand for roadbed construction but only 1.7 million cubic meters of sand has been secured; hence a shortfall of four million cubic meters.
Dong Nai reported that it had taken back land in the entire area designated for the airport project, totaling 5,000 hectares. Of this, 2,530 hectares has been handed over to the airport developer for the implementation of phase one.
In the area of land planned for phase two, more than 2,400 hectares, construction work has not yet started, resulting in the ground not being leveled. It includes 190 hectares of land planned for building Terminal 3.
According to Dong Nai’s proposal, soil removed from the area for the future development of Terminal 3 can be used for building the roadbed of the Dong Nai section of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway.
The Vietnam Airport Corporation is currently clearning land in a 1,800-hectare area in the first phase of the Long Thanh airport project.
The project area planned for Terminal 3 has not been approved, so the ground has not been leveled, leading to a significant difference in elevation between the two areas, ranging from 8 to 10 meters. It is therefore necessary to lower the elevation in the area planned for Terminal 3 to avoid affecting the airport’s operations.
