200th death anniversary of cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc commemorated

(ĐN) - On March 28, the People's Committee of Bien Hoa City solemnly held a ceremony to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the death of the cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc (1825-2025).  

During the program, attendees offered incense together to pay tribute to the 200th anniversary of the death of cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc at Trinh Hoai Duc Tomb site and offered incense at the worship hall of the Tran Bien Literature Temple.  

Speaking at the commemoration ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Bien Hoa City People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Thanh stated that cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc was one of the outstanding cultural figures in Vietnamese history, known for his roles as a politician, cultural figure, and excellent diplomat under the Nguyen dynasty. Not only was he skilled in governance and administration, earning the trust of the king and the admiration of the court, but Trinh Hoai Duc also embodied the great character of a scholar with a simple, noble, and people-oriented life. He left a vast treasure of cultural and historical heritage for future generations, prominently featuring the work "Gia Dinh thanh thong chi."  

"200 years have become history since cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc departed from the court to return to his ancestors, but his life and career will forever shine and illuminate. Organizing the memorial ceremony for cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Ducaims to propagate, educate, and promote the tradition of remembering the source of water, expressing gratitude, and recognizing his contributions to the land of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai. Through this, it ignites the revolutionary spirit, national pride, and efforts to unite and build a more civilized and prosperous hometown,"  Thanh emphasized.  

On this occasion, students in Bien Hoa City performed artistic programs and reenacted the life, career, and contributions of cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc to the Dong Nai land in particular and the South in general.  

On the evening of the same day, the People's Committee of Biên Hòa City will organize an artistic program in memory of cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc at Bien Hung Park; simultaneously screening the documentary " Trinh Hoai Duc- a well-rounded scholar" and awarding prizes for the contest on the historical site of Trinh Hoai Duc's  tomb.
