(DN) - On March 28, the Association of Traditional Medicine of Dong Nai Province held its IX Congress for the term 2025-2030.

Attending were Mr. Ngo Cao Cap, Deputy Director of the Institute of Traditional Medicine of Vietnam; Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Provincial Party Committee Lai The Thong; Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai Province Nguyen Tat Do along with leaders from departments, branches, and 135 delegates.

The Association of Traditional Medicine currently has 689 members with 356 establishments and clinics across the province. From 2019 to 2024, the Association organized health examinations and treatments for over 1.8 million patient visits. The total amount of free medical care for patients exceeded 34.2 billion VND. Member organizations of the Association continue to maintain medicinal herb gardens, including: 3,000 m2 in Bien Hoa City at the Thien Binh clinic (Tam Phuoc Ward); 5,000 m2 in Long Thanh district at charitable traditional medicine clinics; 3,000 m2 in Long Khanh city cultivating medicinal plants such as cinnamon, queen's tears, male honeysuckle, mulberry, etc. The charity healthcare system using traditional medicine at religious establishments and associations has also increased due to the abundant medicinal resources of the Ma Da, Hieu Liem areas, and Nam Cat Tien forest. Thereby, contributing alongside the health sector to providing primary healthcare for the people through traditional medicine.

In addition to regular medical examinations and treatments, traditional medicine associations at the district level in the province have coordinated to organize many free medical examination sessions and distribute gifts to people in and outside the province, especially to those in remote areas.

The IX Congress of the Association of Traditional Medicine set the goal for the term 2025-2030 as “United to build a strong Association, inherit, promote, develop, preserve, and maintain the traditional profession of the nation.” Among the measures to develop the Association, it will strengthen advocacy, mobilization, and build a successor force in families with a tradition in traditional medicine. Focus on training and deep professional development for members, in which members should learn more about Han Nom characters to absorb the knowledge left by their ancestors; combine traditional and Western medicine to ensure the highest effectiveness in medical examination and treatment.

At the congress, the delegates elected the Executive Committee of the Association of Traditional Medicine of Dong Nai Province for the IX term 2025-2030 consisting of 15 members. Specialist Doctor I Pham Van Long was re-elected as President of the Association of Traditional Medicine of Dong Nai Province for the IX term.

With the authorization of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Luu Van Dung congratulated and highly appreciated the efforts and results achieved by the Association of Traditional Medicine in recent times. This includes coordinating treatment for patients during the complicated period of the Covid-19 pandemic. The leaders of the Department of Health requested that in the coming time, the Association needs to continue to consolidate and improve its organizational structure; focus on education in medical ethics, professional training for members; proactively inherit valuable experiences and remedies, and promote scientific research, combining traditional and Western medicine to ensure effective prevention and treatment.
