According to Hue’s provincial people’s committee, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has signed a decision under which Vietnam will build Hue into its first ever festival city.

This activity will create an opportunity for the city to assert its trade mark, attract tourists and promote its heritages while making tourism and service into a key industry of Thua Thien-Hue province.

Since the Vietnam-France Culture Festival held in 1992, a wide range of impressive cultural activities and festivals have taken place, warmly welcomed by domestic and foreign tourists.

The successful Festivals Hue in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006 have confirmed the capacity of organizing regional and international cultural activities and festivals.

In addition, there have also been many festivals honouring traditional industries, impressing tourists and friends. These festivals have contributed to the construction of infrastructure and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritages of the Ancient Hue City.
