Water conservation drive attracts over 360 students, teachers in Dong Nai

More than 360 students and teachers from Dong Nai Province took part in a water conservation drive at Cat Tien National Park to enrich knowledge on forest protection, water conservation, and environmental issues.

The three-day immersive “classrooms in the forest”, held from October 15 to 17, was part of the “Journey with Mizu to Protect the Environment” initiative. It is launched by Suntory Holdings and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company (SPVB) in collaboration with the Central Youth Union Council and the Forest Protection Department.

The initiative focused on involving students through outdoor activities that cultivate awareness among students about the pivotal role of forests, their profound connection with water sources, and the importance of forest preservation in safeguarding both land and groundwater.

This drive is part of the larger “Mizuiku – I Love Clean Water” program, which originated in Japan in 2004. Vietnam became the first country outside Japan to adopt this program in 2015, with the goal of educating 3.7 million primary school students about water conservation by 2025.

The program has reached nearly 500,000 students, and over one million students and teachers have benefited from clean water infrastructure projects.

As part of the event, environmental information corners were set up at national parks to provide visitors with educational materials on water conservation and forest protection. These efforts are part of a broader campaign to promote environmental awareness in schools and communities.

Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam plans to expand the initiative to other regions, focusing on educating future generations about the critical role of water conservation in sustainable development.
