Dong Nai Province is evaluating a proposal to deepen excavation at the Tam Phuoc–Phuoc Tan quarry cluster from 80 meters to 120 meters to enhance resource utilization.
The recommendation was made by a consultancy assessing the environmental impact of mining activities on the Buong River and nearby areas.

Spanning nearly 400 hectares in Bien Hoa City, the Tam Phuoc–Phuoc Tan cluster is home to 10 quarries and serves as the largest source of construction stone in Dong Nai, which boasts the highest reserves in southern Vietnam.
In response to environmental concerns, the province initiated a review in 2020. The South Vietnam Geological Mapping Division, tasked with the study, completed 11 specialized reports and a comprehensive assessment by the end of 2022. These reports analyzed pollution levels, environmental safeguards, and resource management.
The consultancy recommended linking adjacent mine pits during operations and constructing dedicated roads to minimize dust and reduce traffic on public routes.
The Dong Nai People’s Committee has directed the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to continue monitoring air quality and groundwater levels near the quarries. Operators have been instructed to adhere to mining regulations and enhance environmental protections, particularly in stone processing areas.
Final recommendations and solutions will be submitted to the Dong Nai Party Committee by December 2024, forming the basis for further action.
